Add what you know
Anyone can write a new article or correct an existing one. Every contribution is reviewed before it appears, and your name stays beside your work.
Protect people
- Use a pen name if writing here could put you or your family at risk.
- Never publish the home address, phone number, location or family details of a living person.
- Do not name someone as an activist, a survivor or a witness unless they have already said so publicly.
- In family trees, name only people who have died or who are already public figures. Leave out private living relatives, and always give a source.
- Portraits must come from Wikimedia Commons with their licence and credit, so we know they can be shared.
Keep it true
- Cite a source for each important claim. Books, reports, news and recorded testimony all count.
- Where sources disagree, say so and give each view. Numbers of victims often differ, so give the range and who reported it.
- Family and oral history are welcome. Say clearly that it is oral history, and who told it, if they agree to be named.
Respect everyone
- Write plainly and fairly. A memorial is stronger when its facts can be trusted.
- Hatred towards any ethnic group or faith will be rejected.
- Write in your own words. Do not copy text from books or websites.
What happens to your contribution
- You submit it, and you can follow it under My contributions.
- The site owner reviews it, then publishes it or explains what needs changing.
- Once published, it is credited to your public name in the article history.
Every action is written to a permanent audit log. By contributing, you agree to release your text under CC BY-SA 4.0, so it can be shared freely with credit.
