Full text of this version

On 12 May 2020, armed men attacked the maternity wing run by Médecins Sans Frontières at Dasht-e Barchi hospital in Kabul, a mainly Hazara area. MSF reported 24 people killed, including 16 mothers, one of its midwives and two young boys.1

MSF's head of programmes said of the attackers: "They came to kill the mothers."1 Fearing further attacks, MSF made what it called the painful decision to withdraw from the hospital in mid-June.2
