Full text of this version

Sharbat Ali Changezi is a retired three-star officer of the Pakistan Air Force and a former fighter pilot. He was born in Quetta in the early 1930s. Sources give both 1932 and 1933.1

He served in the Indo-Pakistani wars of 1965 and 1971.1 In 1955 he refused to meet Afghanistan's King Zahir Shah, who was visiting Pakistan, because of the treatment of Hazaras in Afghanistan.1

Family

His father, Haji Ahmed Ali, was chief of the Behsudi Hazaras in Quetta. His sister, Professor Fatima Changezi, was the first Hazara woman to attend college, and she went on to teach Persian.1 Changezi recalled that a cleric attacked their father from the pulpit for sending her, and that she was later able to go on with her studies.1

He married Uzra, the daughter of General Muhammad Musa.1
