Hazaragi is the speech of many Hazaras, an eastern variety of Persian with a distinctive vocabulary of Mongolic and Turkic origin.
Hazaragi is generally treated as an eastern variety of Persian, closely related to Dari. Some linguists regard it as a separate language.12
Its most distinctive feature is vocabulary of Mongolic and Turkic origin, such as bêri ("bride") and qulaḡay ("thief"). One estimate puts Mongolian elements at about 10% of the vocabulary.2
Speaker estimates vary widely, and should be treated with caution.12
